January 4th, 2018 by

Louisiana is known for a lot of things, including one-of-a-kind music, rich food, and a unique style. Alcohol of all varieties is also associated with Louisiana, but many people assume that these drinks are not from there. What you may overlook is that Louisiana wineries turn out some delicious wine options. Wineries provide more than just great wine, though. They are the setting for many family and community events as well. If you’re looking to visit one, here are some of the best local wineries around Natchitoches.

On Cloud Wine

On Cloud Wine opened in 2009 at 6936 Buncombe Road in Shreveport. All of the wine that the winery sells is made on site in one of the company’s large stainless-steel tanks. Currently, On Cloud Wine creates 16 different wines that are both high quality and affordable. The winery has a gift shop and tasting room, and it can ship wines for weddings or to residences in the state of Louisiana.

Landry Vineyards

Landry Vineyards is located at 5699 New Natchitoches Road in West Monroe. Landry is relatively new in terms of vineyards, having started in 1999. At first, it only had one variety, the Blanc Du Bois, which is made from a hybrid American/European grape variety. The vineyard has expanded and offers a wide selection of wines made from different varieties. Aside from the wines, Landry Vineyard hosts many events on site. The vineyard serves as a great backdrop for music and cultural events including concerts and weddings. Private rentals can be scheduled online or over the phone, and many of the different wines can be ordered online as well. Landry Vineyard also has a large tasting room that is open most days of the week from 11 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Tours and tastings have a fee, but the tasting fee is waived if you buy one bottle per person.

LA Serendipity Vineyards

The LA Serendipity Vineyards are located at 82178 Old Military Rd. It is a newer vineyard that started in 2008. The product line is limited. In fact, there are two primary wines: the LA Serendipity White and Red. Despite the limited product lines, LA Serendipity Vineyards excels at making these two options. Aside from the wines, the vineyard is open to hosting events on the weekends. Tasting appointments can be scheduled over the phone, and you can make reservations for events as well. The vineyard serves as a great backdrop for smaller events like family gatherings and celebrations.

Louisiana wineries offer a unique perspective on wine and wineries. Many have recovered from Hurricane Katrina, and you can visit them on a grand tour of the Louisiana wineries. If you are interested, then you will need a high-quality vehicle to get you there. Hebert Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram can help you make the trip by showing you how much easier it can be with one of the many vehicles the dealer has available. Just be sure to pick one with enough storage space to bring back all of your favorite wines.
